Born in 1901, Ohi Todosai IX was the eldest son of Ohi Chozaemon VIII and succeeded as Ohi Chozaemon IX in 1927. He produced tea bowls for the Imperial household and exhibited at the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition as a full member of the Japan Kogei Association. In 1977, Urasenke tea master Hounsai conferred on him the art name Todosai. He died in 1986.
