KEISUKE TADA

trace/wood #80
Born in Aichi Prefecture in 1986. Tada completed the Fine Arts master's course at Graduate School of Aichi University of Arts in 2012. Tada's works are based on what he refers to as “fabricated world” found in computer graphics in games, movies and other media. However, Tada’s works are not presented virtually, instead are extremely materialized. He creates works that depict that door being smashed, cracked old paintings that are about to fall off, and walls hanging with chains. If one does not know the artist previously, one would not know that they are all works depicted with paint. This is no exaggeration that his works are made entirely out of paint. To Tada, this is an expression of realism. The artist embodies realism with painting as a medium and allows the viewer to feel what cannot be touched in virtual space, even though it is not touched in real world as well. He recreates objects that do not exist in reality. The affection and obsession towards distorted, untouchable objects are the source of Tada’s imagination. Numerous of Tada’s works have been exhibited in Japan and internationally such as “VOCA 2022” (The Ueno Royal Museum, Tokyo), “Subterraneans and Mirrorless Mirror” (gallery αM, Tokyo, 2022) and “POSITION 2021-2022 Nagoya Contemporary Art Exhibition” (Nagoya City Art Museum, 2022).
