TEAMLAB

Waves of Light
Led by Toshiyuki Inoko, teamLab began its activities in 2001 as an art collective in a corporate form of organization. Not only art works, it also produces various contents and products across different fields. As its predecessor, the software development business can be tracked back to around 1998 when Inoko was studying at the University of Tokyo. teamLab attempts to intersect with society and nature through artworks which were imagined from science and technology perspectives. The team gathers artists, engineers, programmers and other technicians, as well as mathematicians, architects, animators and a wide range of other specialists, achieving interdisciplinary creativity. It is characterized by its large-scale media art installations, and numerous public artworks are installed around the world. Their works are in the collections of prominent museums worldwide, including the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, Art Gallery of New South Wales (Sydney), Art Gallery of South Australia (Adelaide), Asian Art Museum (San Francisco), Asia Society (NY), and National Gallery of Victoria (Melbourne), etc.
