AIKO YUNO

CAMELLIA (Narrative)
Born in Osaka, Japan, in 1993, Aiko Yuno graduated from the Department of Fine and Applied Arts of Kyoto University of Arts in 2015. After a short-term study at the Royal Academy of Arts (London) in 2017, she completed her master’s degree in Mixed Media at Kyoto University of Arts in 2018. Yuno has been continuously creating the “Narrative” series as two-dimensional works and “THE HOUSE” series as three-dimensional works. Based on the research that is likely supported by the knowledge and interest she learned in the department, she has achieved an unexpected combination of form and material through various trials on materials, realizing an unstable yet vivid visual experience. Yuno’s achievements include being selected for the CAF Award in 2017, participation in the KdMofa Residency Program at Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts (Taiwan) in 2018, and selection for the Gunma Biennale for Young Artists (The Museum of Modern Art, Gunma) in 2019. Her large-scale commission works “THE HOUSE (every time, everywhere. your place to stay is in your mind.)” and “Narrative” series are displayed in the Obayashi Corporation’s Osaka main office (new building in 2023), a leading corporate collection of contemporary art in Japan.
