JADÉ FADOJUTIMI
Born in London (UK) in 1993, Fadojutimi graduated from Slade School of Fine Art (London) in 2015 and completed her master’s degree at the Royal College of Art (London) in 2017. In 2016, she studied at the Graduate School of Kyoto City University of Arts as an exchange student. Fadojutimi's paintings are abstract paintings with a variety of colors and rhythmic brushstrokes and are created instinctively while gaining inspiration from various sources. She has stated that she is strongly influenced by Japanese culture (animation, fashion, music). However, these influences are only a source of inspiration for her works, and it is difficult to see the specific approach from the completed painting. But the process of bringing her emerging imagination into paintings can be said to be proof that Fadojutimi’s inner life is highly abstracted as much as that. Fadojutimi’s recent major exhibitions include solo exhibitions at The Hepworth Wakefield (UK) in 2022 and at the Institute of Contemporary Art Miami in 2021. She has also been invited to international exhibitions such as the 59th Venice Biennale (2022) and the Liverpool Biennial (2021). Her works are in the collections of prominent museums in Europe and in the US, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York), City of Paris Museum of Modern Art, Hammer Museum (LA), the Baltimore Museum of Art, Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami, Tate Modern (London), and Walker Art Center (Minneapolis), etc.
